It’s Our County manifesto for Herefordshire launched

Political history was made in Hereford on 18 March, when It’s Our County held a Press Conference to announce that it intended to put up at least 30 candidates in the local government elections on 5 May*.

Launching the IOC Manifesto (available to download now), Leader Cllr Mark Hubbard said: “We are the only party with a Herefordshire-friendly approach. For too long, our Council has been dominated by national political parties with inappropriate agendas for a rural county. We aim to change that in May, by giving voters a real choice for the first time.”

Mark told journalists that the party’s membership was booming, with more than 200 registered members and supporters. And he scotched rumours about the source of our funds. “Despite malicious rumours to the contrary, we are not being bank-rolled by property developers!” he said.

*Herefordshire County Council comprises 58 seats in 40 wards. The present council, which was elected in May 2007, comprises 31 Tory, 11 independent, 9 LibDem, 5 It’s Our County and 2 Labour councillors. So It’s Our County needs to win at least 30 seats to take over the Council.
