The following is a statement from Mark Hubbard, Leader of the It’s Our County party.
I was very disappointed to hear that Justin Lavender is defecting as he recently assured me he would not be standing for election at all, as his new job will be taking him out of the county for weeks at a time. So it is especially disappointing Justin was not able to tell us of his difficulties, but chose to wait until the eleventh hour just before the election is called. I feel particularly sorry for the people of St Nicholas Ward who supported our stand against the massive house building programme planned for that ward – they must be feeling particularly betrayed.
It’s Our County is determined to practice a new kind of politics for Herefordshire which includes our three core values – honesty, clarity and transparency.
We shall be fielding over 30 candidates who DO sign up to these values at the May elections – an amazing achievement from a standing start last September. Canvassing has already begun and it is clear from the response on the doorstep that people really get what we are trying to achieve and are as enthused as we are.
Herefordshire is an amazing county full of people from all walks of life with passion, energy and, not least, common sense. So we continue the fight for what we believe is worth fighting for: Herefordshire’s economic & cultural future – and safeguarding its unique way of life. Join us on May 5th and we shall do it together.
