Official Press Release

It’s Our County Demand an End to Tory Time Wasting Tactics

Change needed due to time wasting tactics by Tories

Irritated at time wasting Notices of Motion that lead nowhere after last week’s Council meeting It’s Our County are proposing a constitution change that would mean Notices of Motion must have measurable and achievable outcomes.

If accepted it would mean that the two Conservatives recent Notices of Motion: ‘This Council urges all to embrace a can do attitude’ and ‘This Council commits to reduce the threat of rural isolation’ would not be possible.

Said Cllr Liz Harvey

“The November Council Meeting was a farce, 58 councillors and numerous council officers wasted tax payers’ money discussing ludicrous proposals for over an hour; which, even when agreed upon, resulted in nothing new actually being achieved.  We must stop these time wasting games; there are too many real issues that need our attention to fritter our time away in this way.  They do nothing to progress the needs of the people of Herefordshire – who should be the number one priority of everyone in the council chamber.”

Current rules surrounding Notice of Motions state only three Notice of Motions are allowed and only one and a half hours given to them all per meeting.  NoMs can be proposed if supported by a number of councillors and officially proposed several days before the Council Meeting.
